DenAmine

PolyAmine

DenAmine is a high-quality, amine-based shale inhibitor used in water-based drilling fluids to prevent cuttings from hydrating in reactive shale and clays. Additionally, it strengthens the borehole, reduces the risk of bit-balling and non-productive time, and increases ROP. DenAmine can be added directly to the mud system with minimum adverse effects on rheological properties.

Applications

DenAmine provides superior inhibition of reactive clays by suppressing hydration and swelling within the clay mineral platelets, and also minimizes the potential for bit balling. It is compatible with water- based drilling muds and common additives.

Typical Properties

Appearance @ 25 °C
Yellow liquid

8-9
Solubility
Soluble in brine or fresh water

Recommended Treatment

It is recommended to use DenAmine in water-based muds with concentrations of 3 to 5% vol/vol depending rates-of-penetration and reactivity of the formation being drilled.  DenAmine concentrations should be monitored using the filtrate amine titration method. Periodic treatment of active drilling fluid while drilling is highly recommended.
