DenOX S
O2 Scavengers
DenOx S oxygen scavenger is a liquid Sodium Bisulfite-based chemical used to remove entrained oxygen from water-based muds and workover brines while circulating. By removing dissolved oxygen molecules, it prevents oxygen-induced corrosion and addresses other oxygen-related challenges, such as the growth of harmful bacteria.
Applications
The main function of DenOx S is to decrease soluble oxygen in water, which is a potential source of corrosion in drilling mud systems. By readily reacting with the dissolved oxygen, it increases the lifetime of rig pumps and downhole tools.
Typical Properties
Appearance @ 25 °C
Colorless liquid
Specific gravity
1.18 ± 0.01 g/mL
pH
9.5-10.5
Water Solubility
Completely soluble
Recommended Treatment
The dosage of treatment highly depends on the oxygen concentration of water. Normally, 0.1 – 0.2 vol/vol of DenOx S is recommended.
