DenGly HC
High Cloud Point Shale Inhibitor
DenGly HC is a high-cloud-point multifunctional additive designed for water-based drilling fluids to enhance wellbore stability, particularly when drilling through problematic shale formations. This additive stabilizes troublesome shales by forming ‘clouds’ that effectively plug shale pores, thus preventing hydration and swelling. Performance of DenGly HC is elevated in the presence of an inhibitive salt, such as KCl.
Applications
DenGly HC has application in high salinity systems and wells with a high formation temperature. This additive can be used in challenging drilling environments such as high-angle, extended-reach, deep and subsalt wells. It offers a range of benefits, including improved lubricity, high-temperature filtration control, reduced dilution rates, and mitigation of bit balling.

Recommended Treatment
It is recommended to use DenGly HC in water-based muds with concentrations of 3 to 5% v/v. Periodic treatments of active drilling fluid while drilling should be made to maintain the desired concentrations. It is better to use this product along with an inhibitive salt, such as KCl to maximize shale stability efficiency.
